Latin Tutoring and Courses Zurich
In the long-term Gymnasium, Latin lessons comprise five hours per week and are compulsory during the first two school years. Latin demands perseverance, a well-thought-out approach, and
diligence in practice from students. If your child does not know how to approach translation, it may be because they are not learning correctly, sufficiently, or are using the wrong methods. Latin tutoring can eliminate deficiencies in the subject matter. Students can be motivated to gain self-confidence to overcome linguistic hurdles.
How Your Child Will Be Supported
Our Latin tutoring in Zurich Seefeld, in Zurich Wiedikon, and in Zurich Oberstrass (Kreis 6) helps students
catch up on missed material, solidify current knowledge, and prepare for the
future. Mr. Walti takes the time to explain grammatical fundamentals and practice them until they are truly
mastered and can be built upon. He assists with learning and
revising fundamental or exam-relevant vocabulary, teaches
learning techniques, and helps in distinguishing between “important” and “less important”.
Particular emphasis is placed on translation into German:
Students are trained to grasp and understand an entire Latin text, starting from individual words,
and progressing through individual sentences,
and to formulate it linguistically correctly and appealingly in German. Incidentally, Latin instruction also enhances linguistic expressiveness in German and other foreign languages.
What Latin Tutoring Options Are Available?
• Individual Tutoring: This allows for targeted addressing of immediate requirements (e.g., homework or exam preparation).
• Small Group: Some students enjoy learning in a small group where their questions and problems in Latin can be addressed. This offer is time-bound but slightly more affordable.
• Holiday Course: During a course week, the basics are learned, 2x 50 minutes per day. Your child takes their first steps in the linguistic field before school and also learns a great deal about the history and culture of the Romans.

Christian Walti holds a Gymnasium diploma with Latin (Type B). He taught Latin at a Zurich long-term Gymnasium for the first two school years and has extensive experience in school-accompanying individual and group tutoring in this subject.
