Tutoring Zurich

Tutoring and personal tutoring have been our core focus at Open Learning Space Zurich since 2016. Our tutors are passionate about their subjects and love sharing their knowledge. Lifelong learning is our motto! This means: We give your child the enthusiasm and tools to never stop learning throughout their life.

When does tutoring make sense?

In almost every academic journey, learning difficulties arise sooner or later in one or more subjects. In our personal tutoring courses, students learn specifically how to solve academic problems simply and systematically.

Tutoring is recommended in the following situations:

  • Your child has gaps in their schoolwork that are getting bigger and affecting their grades.
  • An entrance exam or transition to secondary school, high school, or higher education is coming up.
  • Your child is struggling with a foreign language; learning vocabulary and grammar just won’t click.
  • High learning effort is rewarded with only mediocre grades, motivation suffers.
  • Your child suffers from exam anxiety.

As parents, you can’t always provide enough support — for example, due to lack of time or the necessary expertise. At the latest when poor academic performance threatens your child’s further education, or when school increasingly dominates family life and even strains your relationship with your child, professional tutoring at Open Learning Space Zurich can be a great support.

How can we support you?

We provide the necessary structures to get back on the path to success. Specifically, this can mean, for example:

  • Support with homework
  • Addressing existing gaps in a subject (often mathematics, languages)
  • Targeted gymnasium preparation
  • Targeted improvement of grades in specific subjects, studying for exams
  • Strengthening general skills — for example essay writing, reading comprehension, time management
  • Reducing exam anxiety, practicing exam situations
  • Strengthening concentration and attention
  • Practicing strategies to avoid careless mistakes

What does tutoring look like with us?

We place great emphasis on self-confidence in our students’ independent abilities. As teaching and learning professionals, we try to be only the support our students need for their own success. When the student feels they’ve achieved it themselves, we’ve done our job well.

Understanding forms the basis of all our tutoring. Our teachers try to meet the student where they are and invest the necessary time to convey the fundamentals at their level in an understandable way. We want to trigger positive aha moments — after that, targeted learning becomes much easier.

At Open Learning Space, we also specifically emphasize the systematic repetition of already learned content so that it sustainably enters long-term memory. Our teachers consistently plan enough time for this.

Last important point: The joy of learning must not be lost. Finding the right balance between performance- and success-oriented tutoring and the joy of learning requires a lot of sensitivity and is one of our top priorities.

We cultivate communication with parents, and if desired and needed, we also seek dialogue with the student’s teacher.

Who are our tutors?

Our tutors are carefully selected and meet the following criteria:

  • completed Matura, university/ETH/FH degree
  • subject expertise and enthusiasm for the subject
  • good interpersonal skills
  • reliability and flexibility
  • enjoyment of working with young people

Next steps…

Share the following information with us via contact form, phone, or email:

  • your child’s school level
  • desired subject or subjects
  • Your contact details for follow-up questions
  • 2–3 possible appointments

You will receive a proposed appointment for a free trial lesson from us within 1–3 days. After that, we’ll discuss whether the trial lesson was successful and how to proceed. You choose one of the possible payment methods: billing at the end of the month or a 10-lesson package. Lessons usually take place weekly at the same time. Flexible solutions can be arranged as desired and possible.
