Gymnasium Preparation 5th Grade Primary Mathematics
Course Content
In the Gymnasium preparation courses for 5th grade mathematics, we practice basic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), proportionality, word problems, geometry, and other topics during one lesson per week. The level of the tasks tends to be challenging. Using task dossiers, topics are discussed and practiced to help your child progress. In addition to some group activities, there is a lot of individual practice to train working speed and problem-solving skills. A maximum of 5 children participate in the lessons, and entry is possible at any time.
Who teaches and where do the courses take place?
Our teachers are carefully selected to help your child reach their full academic potential. In addition to a completed Matura and a University/ETH/FH degree, our teachers working at the primary level have experience in dealing with children, as well as the necessary patience and sensitivity.
The Open Learning Space premises in Seefeld, Zurich Wiedikon, and Oberstrass (kreis 6) offer an optimal learning environment for your child, where they can fully engage with the teacher and the learning material.
What are the requirements for participating in the course?
Your child should express a personal desire to attend Gymnasium after 6th grade. Grades in mathematics must be at least 4.5. If this is not the case, we also offer a group for children aiming for Sek A.
What distinguishes our Gymnasium preparation courses for primary school students?
The Gymnasium preparation courses in mathematics build on the child’s existing skills. By repeating the basics and applying them to more difficult tasks, your child can experience a sense of achievement. Success increases the enjoyment of mathematics as well as the motivation to work on new content.
Trial lessons are free of charge. (Only possible for ongoing courses)
We would be happy to discuss with you whether participating in the course is suitable for your child. If so, they can attend a lesson to get to know the teacher and the learning atmosphere. Does your child feel comfortable? If so, they can start the following week. If not, we will work together to find a more suitable option.
